"Language learning is habit formation" means that children learn a language by forming a habit or by practicing it once and again. When children acquire a language,  they hear it from others and practice it. It is also thought that children learn what they are taught.

Imitation is a kind of behavioral approach that learners follow. in this case, learners observe and imitate others ' behavior. The role of imitation in language learning is very significant. Learners can watch videos or dramas and imitate how the characters are using the target language. Though some learners can develop proficiency in the target language by imitating others,  it might not be helpful to develop competence. Learners can learn some words or chunks of speech; however,  to build individual competence,  learners need to develop their own ways of learning. Independent learning strategies seem to be more effective.
