Prologue one of the best items of English Literature . Prologue is derived from the Greek word prologos, “the person who speaks at the beginning of a play and introduces the story and characters.” Prologue is synonymous with preface. It is an introductory scene in which a narrator summarizes he main action of the work. A prologue is explanatory information presented to the reader or audience. It establishes the setting or basis for the presentation.

It explains what the whole book will be about. In an informative novel called Witch-Hunt, the prologue basically gives the book a push. It explains that Martha Carrier and other characters might appear more than once in the book. It simply isn’t the beginning of the book, but a separate description.
